In 2014, Google buys Nest for the small sum of $ 3.2 billion.The Nest Cam surveillance camera is part of the package. Intelligent and benevolent, it features a microphone, a loudspeaker, an infrared mode and a viewing angle of 130 degrees, all in a very limited space.

The dynamics of Nest products is simple and well thought out: connected objects need to learn from users’ habits to ensure better efficiency and optimized use.

Launched at 200 USD, the Nest Cam was conceived in the same perspective: it promises to interpret the images and to precisely distinguish an element of the moving decoration from a possible intrusion. The sound is also analyzed so that the camera differentiates the recurring noise of the coffee maker from abnormal noises. This analysis allows sending notifications sparingly, avoiding drowning the user under a stream of unnecessary alerts.
